Chinese Book Fair-fundraising for Mandarin school library

Our first fundraising book fair for the Mandarin school library on November 22 was a success. Many parents, students and guests attended and made generous contribution. Thanks to our parents and students volunteers for organizing it.

Many popular children picture books were sold out. We also received many valuable suggestions from parents for choices of books. Some asked for books with an attached CD so that children can read along the tape or listening to it while driving. Some suggested more English and Mandarin bilingual books. Others looked for more children songs and Chinese cartoon movies for young children.

Many students also enjoyed a treat or a drink. Everyone had a lot of fun.

The event has raised a couple of hundred dollars and will be used to buy more books for the Mandarin school library, which will be open before Christmas.

Our second book fair will be scheduled at our annual Chinese New Year celebration in January 2009.
