Weekends children classes started on Sept 12th

Da Jia Hao (Greetings to all)! Welcome to Toronto Mandarin School, a place we can all share, enjoy and learn from each other. Our weekend Mandarin classes for children have started a new school year on September 12th. Let’s get start with some exciting news at Toronto Mandarin School:

  1. We welcome more than150 new students to join the weekend program this year. With a goal to provide the most practical and effective learning experience to ANYONE who wants to learn Mandarin Chinese, our school is becoming truly diverse.
  2. This year’s Mandarin immersion summer camp has served nearly 250 students. The new camp at Yonge/Eglinton campus, led by Ms. Vivian Chen, was appraised by many parents.
  3. Our preschool, JingBao Mandarin/English Bilingual Children’s Centre opened the Scarborough campus in May. The North York campus also expanded an extra classroom, offering both Jr. and Sr. classes for children of 2-5 yrs old. The new downtown campus is opening in spring 2010.
  4. We opened the second training center for adult and corporate at the premier downtown location, 890 Yonge St, Suite 500 (Bloor and Yonge).
  5. After tireless work of our dedicated staff (Thanks to Susan Shu, Alina Jing, Jinbo Wang, Lijuan Su), we re-developed the curriculum of “Early Year Learning in Mandarin”, published four books and recorded two CDs to better support our students and families at home.
  6. Let’s give a big high-five to the youngest group at Toronto Mandarin School! “Parent & Tot” program, a new initiative of this year, has created big buzz. We have already heard many positive feedbacks from the participants.
  7. Visit our newly re-designed website @ www.torontomandarinschool.com , with many user-friendly features. We would like to hear from you.
  8. We bought more new books and multimedia resources for our school library and it will re-open to students and parents on Oct 3rd.
  9. We purchased a new computer and projector to better support classroom teaching.

In the new school year, we will continue to work and create an interesting, alive, and effective classroom to ensure the success of our students by meeting their individual needs. We strongly believe that the meaningful involvement and support of parents in our children’s education contributes significantly to their success. At Mandarin school, we always encourage active parents’ involvement, whether at home or at school.

To help student learn better, we encourage open communication among school, teachers and parents by using “Weekly Feedback Sheet”. It summarizes the weekly lesson, highlights homework requirement and provides reminders of next week’s class. Both electronic and paper copy is available. Ask your child’s teacher for your preferable option. We encourage parents to contact your child’s Mandarin teacher whenever you need and communicate with her/him on a regular basis about your child’s progress.

It is an exciting year ahead of us and we have so much to accomplish. Let’s all work together for a wonderful year at Toronto Mandarin School. Cheers!
