Job Responsibility
Engage meaningfully with children to support their physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children.
Maintain, clean and organize an inspirational learning environment.
Plan and implement age-appropriate, child-centered activities for children, such as media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity.
Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor.
Model positive adult/child relationships
Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members.
Ensure an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children.
Promote a welcoming environment for all families and community members.
Work on a rotated shift and any other shift as required.
Develop and implement with your “team” individual and group curriculums for toddler, pre-school and school age children.
May plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours.
Job Requirements
Completion of a two- to four-year college program in early childhood education or a bachelor’s degree in child development, Licensing by a provincial or territorial association for ECE
Fluency in English and Mandarin both
Experience in licensed childcare
Ability to successfully carry out ECE duties and any other responsibilities.
Possess excellent behavior guidance skills that include positive reinforcement and redirection strategies.
Skills and interests in creative art, drama, music, science, literacy and numeracy programs
Working knowledge of the City of Toronto Operating Criteria, Child Care and Early Years Act, How Does Learning Happen/Emergent curriculum.
Adequate energy level and ability to meet the physical demands of the job. Job requires frequent lifting up to 20 lbs; bending, kneeling, crouching.
A clear Health and Police Reference Check is mandatory prior to employment.
Hold a valid standard First Aid/CPR certificate.
