I was originally apprehensive about learning a different language, especially as an adult learner. However, my instructor (Wu lǎo shī) made my learning experience fun, engaging, informative, and challenging. Now, I always look forward to our next class and am eager to continue learning more.
I have been learning Mandarin at Toronto Mandarin School for over 8 years. My teachers are both knowledgeable and encouraging not only guiding me in the use of day to day Mandarin, but also in my occasional flights of fantasy to delve into less mainstream topics. Learning a new language as an adult is not an easy undertaking, but if you come to TMS you will find the undertaking easier than you expected.
I've started studying Chinese at Toronto Mandarin School this year, and I've been very impressed with their high level of professionalism. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming, and it feels like you're part of a family. The teacher knows a lot about Chinese language and culture, and puts a lot of heart into teaching, and the way she explains everything is really great. She makes it very easy for me to understand and pick up the concepts. Would definitely recommend it!
We found Toronto Mandarin School through a friend’s recommendation. After 5 mins of the first lesson with Ms Gao, I knew my kid would like it. And in fact, he loves it. The excitement and passion he showed me every day after Ms Gao was something I had never seen before. Ms Gao is nice, kind, patient, funny and encouraging. The textbook she wrote is so appropriate for Chinese kids who grew up abroad. Being introduced to Toronto Mandarin school is definitely the silver lining to us during this pandemic. Can’t thank them enough.
I started learning Mandarin earlier this year (2020), and through the turbulent times was impressed with the transition to online. My teacher is a pleasure to work with, and very knowledgeable about both the language and culture, and teaches us modern ways of communicating to supplement the textbook material when relevant. She also provides great background information and insight into the origins of the vocabulary we're learning, which helps with retaining the knowledge! I would recommend Toronto Mandarin School to adult learners, I have had a very good experience.
My kids are in love with the Chinese class offered by Toronto Mandarin School! There's a great dynamic between the teacher and the students, and the content of the texts suits well with kids who grow up in North America. During Zoom classes, their teacher incorporates fun games to help review the course material, and we often hear laughter bursting out from the room. Learning Chinese can be fun! My kids are very excited about learning Chinese thanks to Toronto Mandarin School, and we can't thank our friend enough for her recommendation!
Our family - two children and two grandparents have had years of positive experience with the school. Our children have taken Saturday morning classes with Toronto Mandarin School for the last three years. We have been continually satisfied by the quality of Mandarin instruction, professional teachers and challenging and engaging curriculum. Toronto Mandarin School has been more than a school, it is also a community for our family to connect to Chinese culture. Thank you for being a service our family can count on. You are our bridge to learning Chinese in Toronto.
My daughter, Serena, has been learning Chinese Phonics with Su Laoshi. Because she is a bit younger than the rest of the class, Serena was initially quite nervous about taking online courses. But Su Laoshi has made the classes enjoyable and relaxing with her patience and knowledge. My daughter now is able to interact with her teacher and peers with confidence during her online sessions. Su Laoshi also keeps us updated with Serena’s progress and challenges. We are really grateful for Su Laoshi and the Toronto Mandarin School.
