Course Description

This course welcomes children from non-Mandarin speaking families, from ages 6 to 17. Held every Tuesday and Thursday, these classes help develop their confidence in speaking Mandarin and ultimately achieve an advanced level of reading, writing and speaking. They will learn through real life topics such as family, sports, traveling, school life, and more. Teachers incorporate a variety of activities into lessons for younger children, such as role play and animated discussions, using print and digital materials that enhance in-class learning and at home practices.

“Leveled Mandarin Reading” Program

To enhance your children’s Mandarin learning and help them to develop a lifelong love of reading, we partnered with iChineseReader, the most popular online Chinese reading platform and introduced the “Leveled Mandarin Reading” program to all school-age students. This program allows students to get exposed to new Chinese characters, words and phrases used in different contexts while helping them to understand how and when to use them correctly. By encouraging students to read extensively, it further helps them to improve their ability to communicate effectively in Mandarin.

Placement Assessment

  • A FREE placement assessment will be offered to all new students to ensure they will be placed in the right level.
  • Toronto Mandarin School reserves the right to request a student to repeat a course if necessary.

Trial Class

  • One-hour free trial class is available upon request.

Payment

  • Full payment (tuition & registration fees) must be paid before the class starts.
  • $25 administrative charge will apply to each non-sufficient funds cheque.
  • New students will be charged a one-time, non-refundable registration fee of $60/family.

Cancellation/Refund/Credit

  • 2-weeks written notice is required for cancellation.
  • Refund will apply to the untaken lessons after cancellation, excluding notice period. All refunds will be subject to a $50 administration fee. The registration fee is non-refundable.
  • If refund is recorded as school credit, administration fee will be waived.
  • If a student will be absent for more than 3 consecutive classes, the missed classes can be saved as school credit only if a written notice is provided 2 weeks prior to missing the first class.
  • A full refund (or credit) will be given to students if there are cancellations or changes initiated by the school. There are no refunds for weather-related cancellations.
  • School credit is valid for 2 years and can be used for any programs within Toronto Mandarin School.

Makeup Lesson

  • A free makeup lesson (if applicable), learning materials and recorded class videos will be provided upon request.
